Welcome to the first edition of a series I’m calling ‘Latest Loves’. I didn’t want to commit to a monthly favourites post, because some months I just don’t have that many exciting things to share. You’ll see these posts pop up whenever I’ve got something new to tell you about. Want to know what I’ve been into lately? Read on!
If you haven’t watched this, stop what you’re doing and watch it right now. I loved everything about the return to Stars Hollow. Fall – you wrecked me.
Even though I’ve been trying to cut back on my Sephora shopping habit, I picked this up during the VIB sale (woohoo! 20% off!). I absolutely love Bite Beauty.. Their Amuse Bouche line smells amazing and is so creamy. This year’s Mauvember shade is right up my alley and I love that 100% of the proceeds from this limited edition lipstick go toward men’s health. It’s a beautiful muted plum shade that is perfect for fall and would be flattering on a lot of skin tones. If it’s not sold out yet, go get you some!
ELIZABETH + JAMES NIRVANA BOURBON ($30 – $107)
I recieved a free sample of this a while back with one of my Sephora orders and fell in love. It’s described as ‘a provocative blend of sultry vanilla bourbon, oakwood, and a hint of tuberose’. It’s definitely a heavier scent which makes it perfect for fall and winter. If you’re into sexy, smoky scents, you might enjoy this. I picked up the rollerball but will probably get a larger size when I use it up.
KEVIN MURPHY DOO.OVER ($18.50)
If I could only pick one hair styling product to use for the rest of my life, it would be this. Described as a ‘dry powder finishing hairspray’ it really is like dry shampoo, hairspray, and finishing spray had a baby. This stuff is my pixie cut’s best friend, giving me hold and texture without weighing my hair down. I get mine from my local salon, but check the Kevin Murphy website to find a retailer near you.
Matt & Nat is a Canadian company based in Montreal and all of their products are vegan with lining made from recycled plastic bottles. These bags feel high end and are built to last. Most of their bags have very few internal compartments, so I love that the Kintla has two snap pockets, a zip compartment for laptops, and an incredibly convenient phone pocket on the front. I bought my bag in ‘bone’ but I’m loving the ‘cerise’ colour from their fall collection (shown above). You can purchase from the Matt & Nat site directly or, if you live in the Fraser Valley, check out Montrose + George in Abbotsford. They carry a variety of Matt & Nat bags and wallets and can order what you’re looking for if it’s not in stock.
Flowy, cozy, cowl neck sweaters have been my go-to for fall. I have a few in my current capsule wardrobe, but this mustard coloured one is my fave.
As I mentioned above, I’ve really been trying to curb my beauty shopping. I love beauty products and often watch reviews before I decide to buy something. Unfortunately, that usually turns into seeing several videos featuring beauty vloggers who got a bunch of shit for free and are telling me how much [insert neutral eyeshadow palette of the moment here] is going to change my life. The fabulous and hilarious Kimberly Clark started this video trend, and her videos are my favourite. She basically runs down a whole list of beauty releases that she’s not going to buy and why she’s not going to buy them. Since then a lot of others have hopped on the bandwagon, so there are a lot of different videos to watch. Whenever I feel the urge to splurge, I’ll check out these videos for all the reasons I don’t need to spend that money (‘Hey girl, how many liquid lipsticks do you really need?’).
Are you loving some of these things too? What’s been on your radar? I’d love you to share in the comments below.
